Our Events

Cedars Open Studios Tour

For over twenty years, Cedars Neighborhood Artists have opened their doors to the public to showcase their talent, creativity, and vibrant lives. This free event draws thousands of visitors from all walks of life to experience the neighborhood studios, see and participate in live demos, and meet the many talented artists of the Cedars.

During this one-day-only event visit the Cedars Artists in their homes, studios, collective art spaces, and select participating neighborhood venues - all as independently unique as the individual artwork created within. Whether it's ceramics, photography, painting, sculpture, or live performance you seek, you won’t want to miss a single one!

The Cedars Open Studios Tour started in 2002 at Tin Ranch Studios by a collective of creatives, and now showcases over 100 artists at various locations across the Cedars neighborhood.

Cedars Sessions

Cedars Sessions is an ongoing art talk series that fosters a deeper understanding of the work and creative process with Cedars Artists as they share insights into their artistry, inspirations, and life as a creative. Events are held throughout the year at various locations across the Cedars neighborhood.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

WHEN: 23 November 2024 - Cedars Open Studios Tour
WHERE: The Cedars, Dallas

On one magical day in November, visitors to the annual Cedars Open Studios Tour experience diverse art studios and galleries set amongst the historic beauty of one of Dallas' oldest neighborhoods. During this event, we rely on volunteers to support the inner workings of the tour and help guide visitors at the studio locations.

Last year the Cedars Open Studios organization was able to showcase how the architectural heritage of the Cedars created a haven for artistry. Volunteers had the option to register for two curated events that toured historic buildings known for their art collection and future art-centric plans.

a curator-led tour of the Rosie Apartment Collection [1722 South Harwood], composed of art by members of The Dallas Nine and Their Circle of Texas artists representing mainly the Texas Regionalist movement, plus some contemporary works by Texas artists. Featured are works by Fred Darge, Cecil Casebier, Velox Ward, Alexander Hogue, Otis Dozier, David Bates, Sedrick Huckaby, Frank X. Tolbert and many more.

a guided talk in the Boedeker Building (1922) about the exciting renovations taking place in this former ice cream factory. A long-planned venture for the Cedars Union, it will be the largest art studio community in Dallas after renovations are complete.

Fun, educational opportunities like this will only be available to volunteers! Plans for 2024 events will be announced shortly. Sign up using our form below.
