Bob Nunn

1940 – 2023

Bob Nunn was a respected artist, revered professor and genuinely decent human being. A Dallas native who lived and worked his entire life here, Bob lived his life in service to others – through teaching, mentoring and advocating for art, artists and art education. Honored with awards and recognition for his art and his achievements, Bob always said that the most meaningful of all of these was hearing “You changed my life” from former students – which for him was a thing not that rare. Bob maintained his studio in Deep Ellum for more than 40 years and is acknowledged as one of the pioneer artists who were instrumental in it becoming known as Dallas’ “first” Arts District. After more than 30 years in the legendary Continental Gin Building, Bob and the other artists were displaced by gentrification. More recently, he established ARTISTS@1808, an art studios collective with more than a dozen artists that borders both The Cedars and Deep Ellum districts, at 1808 South Good Latimer.
